APAC Web3 hiring in 2026: where demand actually sits

Solidity is still scarce, but compliance and BD roles are catching up in Singapore and Dubai.

Headcount is concentrating, not disappearing

Hiring across Web3 didn't slow down in 2026 so much as it concentrated. Layer 2 teams, wallet infrastructure, and licensed VASPs absorbed most of the net-new headcount we tracked this year, while pure NFT studios and speculative gaming projects shed roles at a similar pace. The result is a market that looks quiet in aggregate but is actually competitive and fast-moving inside a narrower set of categories.

Solidity remains the bottleneck

Senior Solidity engineers with a real mainnet track record are still the hardest single role to fill across every region we cover. Time-to-hire for that profile in Singapore and Dubai now regularly stretches past ten weeks, and offers that don't include a meaningful, well-structured token component are losing out to ones that do — even when the fiat base is lower.

Compliance and BD are closing the gap

What's changed most this year is the pace of hiring for compliance managers and exchange BD leads. As MiCA enforcement matured in the EU and licensing frameworks tightened across the UAE, teams that treated compliance as an afterthought found themselves blocked on listings and banking relationships. That pressure has pushed comp for experienced VASP compliance managers close to parity with mid-level engineering roles in some markets.

Vietnam's role as an engineering hub

Vietnam continued to strengthen its position as a remote engineering hub for APAC-facing teams, particularly for full-stack and Solidity roles. Teams based in Singapore and Hong Kong are increasingly building distributed engineering pods anchored in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, drawn by a combination of strong technical output and more sustainable cost structures than fully local hiring allows.
